We have fleshed out the rest of the production staff. I hate that we had a lready started rehearsals, but the timeline was compromised. There are great people working on the technical end of things, and I have no fears that it's all going to be great.
I met with the master carpenter at the park before rehearsal started, and she had some great ideas on the set, that I'm going to sketch out this weekend. We made a plan to start construction this Tuesday, and I think it's goign to be a great thing.
Our costume mistress is getting ready to have surgery, but we have been talking back and forth through paper, and will be getting together before she goes under the knife. She has a great eye, and knows everybody everywhere, so if people are struggling she will be able to help direct them to the right path. Our actors are on top of it as well.
The Whipstitch Sallies |
We have locked up our live musicians, or at least their core. I am thrilled that we are giong to be using two thirds of the folk group The Whipstitch Sallies. They are a bunch of talented, young musicians, and their sound fits right in with our Old West setting. You can listen to some of their music here. I love that they are all women, as that is an important theme for me throughout the script, and an important tie to our production. One of their members has a dayjob committtment that will prevent her from doing the show, so we are on the look out for a mandolin or banjo or even a fiddle player that would be willing to be a part-time Sally.
